p.s. Hey. ** Bill, Hi, Bill. Well, normally there should be people in the office at 5 pm on a Monday, but I guess it wouldn't be a bad idea to send Sonia a quick reminder that you'll be arriving around that time. The weather is just spectacular here at the moment. How was the panel discussion to your mind? Panels tend to be a no-win in most circumstances, if you ask me, for participants and audience members. Thanks a lot about my HTMLG thing. ** Postitbreakup, Hey. I won't do my usual 'well, perfect time to get some writing done'. Oops, I just did, but with qualifiers at least. ** Changeling, Hey! Oh, great, yes, send me stuff for the workshop. Fantastic! I can put it up sometime during July, if that works for you. As soon as I get it, I'll get the workshop post set up, and I'll give you the coordinates. I'm very happy and honored. That musical saw in a sea scout hit does sound really nice. Civil war songs ... hm. So, it was kind of rustic America-themed event? I couldn't tell that you were wasted at all. You totally maintained, man, no worries. ** David Ehrenstein, Hi, David. Yeah, I can't quite make heads or tails of what Bret is up to with this tweeting obnoxiousness thing. I've thought, Joaquin Phoenix-like hoax? I've thought, making himself into the very thing he usually critiques as an experiment or as research for something? Those make more sense to me than the idea that he's just become another predictable tweeting jerk with a trigger finger. But I don't know. It's both odd and increasingly kind of boring. ** David, Hey. Never underestimate the evils of hot weather, I say. A job? Yikes. I wish I could either stumble upon your yard sale or have a yard sale that would clear out some space in my abode prior to stumbling on yours. Wow, a bunch of winners among my slave batch, cool. ** Killer Luka, Maybe his band will play Minneapolis. Check your local listings. ** Chilly Jay Chill, Hi, Jeff. Yeah, blood-related news when there is news please. And ditto on your novel. Email is fine. I'm not sure how internetty I'll be when I'm away most of next week, but I'll probably have a bit of access daily, I'd guess, and I'll get back to you asap. Yeah, Chris' experimental series is great. Really an honor to a part of it. And my answers haven't even been hated on over there, which is something. Bruce Boone isn't as well known as he should be mostly because he gave up writing fiction pretty early and in the middle of his never-finished novel 'Carmen', which is a legendary lost work to New Narrative followers. But what he did publish is being brought back into print now, which is great. ** Sweettomb, Hey, Trinie! Wowzer! Joel and I were just talking about you and not two days ago, wondering if you're living in our hood now full-time or not. I'm coming to LA in August. The early part, most likely. I hope you'll be there. Yeah, of course I'll mention the event, etc. Everyone, the amazing writer Trinie Dalton, whose 'Wide Eyed' is one of Little House on the Bowery's luckiest and most brightly shining scores, has a new project and related LA event that I'm going to let her tell you about, and just know that I'm really recommending you follow through on everything she suggests. Here she is: 'I have an event in LA coming up that I'm pretty psyched about. I started a risograph press (got the machine) and this reading I'm doing is also the launch for Rainbow Riso, and its first edition: The Sad Drag Monologues. If I sell the first edition out it will enable me to fund the next project. :) The Sad Drag series will also run in Baby Geisha but this is a special edition zine printed in red/blue/black, edition of 100, $10/ea, handmade by moi, a major undertaking in the risograph realm...here's a link to info: JULY 14, 7pm with the awesome Jodi Wille. If any of your crew in Hollywood feels like visiting they would be most welcome. Or if anyone wants a book after the event, I plan to sell them through the Picturebox website.' Great, Trinie! Enjoy Vermont, and I hope I'll get to see you in maybe a month or thereabouts. Much love! ** Paul Curran, Hey, Paul! Thanks about the HTMLG thing. And how is your stuff du jour? ** Schlix, Hi, Uli. Yeah, Vija is a pal. She really is just incredible. An extremely great, sublime artist, in my opinion. ** Bernard Welt, Oh, Cologne was on your way to Amsterdam? My sense of German geography is off. Okey-doke on the Richard info front. If you run into him accidentally, it's Haasen. Hanging out in the Jordaan is always nice, but I'm sure you know that. Apparently there is one last, remaining boy brothel in existence, on Spuistraat, I think, across the street from the legendary, defunct Blueboy Club. Have a rijsttafel. See a music gig at Paradiso. Mm, ... I'll keep thinking. ** Kiddiepunk, Thank you letting me share your birthday and for tolerating my nachos gobbling and nachoist jokes. Talk to you in a bit? ** Sypha, Yeah, about the Bret thing. I don't know. ** Chris Cochrane, Post-partum depression, sure, and the most natural thing in the world, unfortunately. All I know at this point is that I'll be there on the 14th and 15th because I have events to do those nights, and that I'll probably try to come two or three days before then, and that I'll be leaving NYC for SF on the 16th. More specifics when I have them. ** Misanthrope, Interesting that you were so inspired by softdrink as to do research on him. Very interesting. Uh, the old idea was to get snowglobe-making experts to make the 'Ktl' one to our specifications for use as a merch item on the Japanese tour of 'Ktl'. But the tour hasn't happened yet. Gisele co-makes the dolls and puppets herself. Her mom actually helps her make them. And some guy in Belgium. ** Alfonso, Hey, man! Really nice to see you! I'm glad the whole Florence thing is working out so well. And that's really cool that you're performing with Ricci/Forte. I'm still hoping they get that piece to Paris. Well, your writing process sounds a whole lot like mine. My books are basically all written in the editing phase, and that part usually takes me a year or two or more, and there's rarely even a slight resemblance between a finished novel and its first draft. So, I know where you're coming from, and, yeah, I wish I could read your stuff too. Me, I'm fine. Just kind of too busy. Gisele and I are curating this giant festival of art, music, performances, lectures, etc., etc. at the Centre Pompidou next February, and it's a lot more work than I realized it would be. But I'm good, writing a bit, getting ready for a couple of mini-vacations. Hugs back to you. ** Tomáš, Hey, T. Next week ... well, I'll be away in the Loire Valley from Tuesday until Friday night, but then I'll be around that weekend if you're free and want to try to hang out then. Would be great! ** Okay. The post undoubtedly explains itself, or maybe it doesn't. I'm no judge. Anyway, it's your allotment for today. See you tomorrow.
